Zoo veterinarian salary...?

I plan on becoming a zoo vet (I'm first getting a degree in zoo science, and then I'll get a degree in vet. medicine), but I have no idea what their salary is. Every other thread with the same dilemma, someone sends them the salary of a zoologist, which is a VERY different profession. I'm having difficulty searching for the salary...anyone know what the average is? =[

People do it for love, so the pay gets driven down. I'll guess $60k. (I'm wrong, it's closer to $40k, at least to start.)

There are just over 100 members of the American College of Zoological Medicine (the veterinary specialty that includes zoo veterinarians.)  Average starting salary is $55-70,000, and positions are quite competitive, as you can imagine.  Salary does increase with experience.  Best of luck. http://www.aazv.org/index.cfm
