Question:

Zoom lens for Canon Rebel Xti?

I currently use a EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 on my Canon Rebel XTi for wildlife shots (birds in tall trees) and for sport shots (my son's college football games from the stadium bleachers). I'm looking to get something that gets me closer without spending $1,000 for a lens. Any suggestions?

  1. a good starter lens for XTI is the canon 18-55mm lens...if u bought XTI with lens that is the lens that would come with it...like i said it is the best starter lens.

  2. Your basically out of luck. Larger lenses start getting very expensive. You can either spend $1,300 to $7,000 or so or you can get a teleconverter. They come in two sizes a 1.4x or a 2.0x. These may work on your lens but you will lose 1 stop for the 1.4 and 2 stops for 2.0

This means that you wont get good performance in low light but it will get you alot closer. I provided a couple of links for a lens and teleconverters.

Check to see if your lens is compatable with this. There are other brands that may work as well.
