  1. At the Bronx Zoo the Butterfly Garden exhibit is open through October, but try to see it before then.

At the Museum, they exhibit specimens, non-living.

Bronx has the best Botanical Gardens.  No butterfly exhibit, but worth the trip if you are interested in anything horticultural.

In calisornia, check out the San Diego Zoo.  They have an annual Orchids and Butterfly exhibit every spring as well as something of a butterfly garden in the children's zoo.

  2. yes

  3. Check out the Central Park Zoo or the Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn...

  4. The New York Botanical Gardens would be the best place to see a butterfly garden.

  5. Each of the five boroughs of NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island) has a zoo, but these are not necessarily the best places to see butterflies.  The exhibit at the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan is of dead, mounted butterflies (and moths and other insects).  These are rather depressing, and many are fading their color.

There used to be an insect farm and museum on Staten Island, but it vanished a couple decades ago.  The best shot at seeing butterflies is in a major park or botanical garden.  Again, each of the five boroughs has a botanical garden.  The largest is in the Bronx, near the Bronx Zoo.  Staten Island's Snug Harbort is famous for its varied wildlife, including ibises, herons, and all sorts of insects.  It also has a very large collection of dozens of rose varieties which attracts butterflies and such.

As for California, you might check out both Fleischhacker's and Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

  6. Bronx Zoo has it right now and the Muesuem of Natural History has a butterfly exhibit and the new york botanitcal gArdens and the prospect park zoo might have one

  7. gotta go to central park just to see the dancing clock!  it still gets me every time!
