Zsuzsanna Jakabos secures Women’s 200m IM title – FINA Swimming World Cup, Singapore
Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary secured gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on opening day of the concluding stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Singapore, Asia on Saturday, November 10.
The Hungarian swimmer exceeded the expectations of her supporters in the 200m discipline as she outperformed her strongest swimmer and compatriot, Katinka Hosszu over the finishing end for the title.
Jakabos remained only a touch ahead of her closest competitor and transpired on the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 06.41 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Hosszu, who stayed 0.37 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 06.78 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Ngawati Kotuku of Australia, who stayed two and a half body lengths apart and surfaced on the finishing end for third position by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 09.17 seconds.
The third position holder was traced by Sophie Allen of Great Britain, who remained 0.82 seconds slower from securing her spot on the victory stand and finished fourth in the race by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 09.99 seconds.
Fifth position holder  of the race was obtained by Miyu Otsuka of Japan, who stayed 1.52 seconds slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 11.51 seconds.
Otsuka was trailed by Jessica Pengelly of South Africa, who was 2.18 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end for sixth position by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.69 seconds.
Pengelly was traced by Emily Thorn of Australia, who stayed 1.80 seconds slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 15.49 seconds for seventh place.
Similarly, Thorn remained 0.33 seconds ahead of Xiaojun Chen of China, who was unable to overpower any of her opponents and finished eighth in the race by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 15.82 seconds.
Furthermore, Jakabos was happy with her top finish and received medal after the race.
