Zsuzsanna Jakabos secures Women’s 400m IM title - Hungarian Long Course Nationals 2011
Zsuzsanna Jakabos clinched the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) crown, after she displayed a scintillating performance at the Hungarian Long Course Nationals, being staged in Debrecen, Hungary, on June 23, 2011.
Jakabos beat Erika Hajnal and Liliana Szilagyi in the respective race with a triumphant time of 4 minutes and 40.79 seconds. With her impressive performance in the Women’s 400m IM category, Zsuzsanna Jakabos has improved to Number 15 spot in the international
swimming rankings, this year.
After nabbing the respective title, she was immensely pleased with her effort. Jakabos is looking in awesome form at the moment, which will indeed help her enormously to prepare well for next year’s Olympic campaign, in London.
She secured two gold medals in the Women’s 200m butterfly and 400m medley finals in the 2010 European Championships (SC) in Eindhoven. She claimed two bronze titles in the Women’s 400m medley events at the 2005 and 2009 European Championships (SC) in Trieste
and Istanbul, respectively. Furthermore, she nabbed one silver and one bronze medal in the Women’s 200m butterfly and 400m medley races at the 2010 European Championships (LC) in Budapest.
Erika Hajnal won the silver medal in the Women’s 400m IM by touching the finishing wall in a winning time of 4 minutes and 53.15 seconds. Liliana Szilagyi settled for bronze in a time of 4 minutes and 53.91 seconds.
Both swimmers put in their best effort to win the race, but it was the speed and stamina of Hajnal, which helped her to claim the silver title with a fringe margin of 0.76 seconds in the Women’s 400m Individual Medley meet.
Earlier, Laszlo Cseh dominated proceedings on the first day of event, as he nabbed three titles in the Men’s 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle and 50m back-stroke categories. Gergo Kis claimed the Men’s 800m freestyle title after putting up a spirited performance
in his respective meet.
The arena applauded for the remarkable swims of their national swimmers, while the winners received awards and accolades for their performances in the event.
