Zsuzsanna Jakabos wins Women’s 50m freestyle final - 2011 Hungarian Long Course Nationals
Zsuzsanna Jakabos claimed the gold medal in the Women’s 50m freestyle on the fourth day of the 2011 Hungarian Long Course Nationals.
Jakabos demonstrated her extraordinary swimming skills in the short distant event, as she touched the wall for the gold medal in an undisputed time of 25.60 seconds. The national champion was 0.47 seconds faster than her following swimmer, Agnes Mutina and
0.49 seconds faster than national record holder, Evelyn Verraszto.
Mutina occupied the silver medal in the 50m event by touching the wall in a time of 26.07 seconds. She edged national record holder, Verraszto, with a difference of only 0.02 seconds, as Verraszto secured the bronze medal with a timing of 26.09 seconds.
While representing her country at international events, the national champion has already captured six medals. She won a silver medal in the 200m butterfly and a bronze medal in the 400m Individual Medley (IM) at the 2010 Budapest European Long Course Championships.
She had won two bronze medals in the 400m IM at the 2005 and 2009 European Championships, respectively. She also won two gold medals in the 200m butterfly and 400m IM at the 2010 Eindhoven Long Course European Championships.
The 22-year-old Hungarian swimmer was followed by Julia Fehervari of Bekescsaba Elore ÚK, who finished her swim in the fourth fastest spot, by producing a time of 26.60 seconds. Fanni Pataki of Kaposvári SI, who concluded her swim in the fifth fastest spot,
by reporting in a time of 26.68 seconds.
Friderika Szel of Szegedi Uszo Egylet stayed 0.21 seconds behind Pataki and finished her swim in the sixth fastest time of 26.89 seconds. Erika Mor Baranyai of BVSC – Zuglo ended her swim in the seventh fastest place, by producing a time of 27.15 seconds.
They were followed by Viktoria Nemeth, who touched the wall for eighth position, with a timing of 27.42 seconds.
The session concluded after the overwhelming effort of Jakabos in the 50m freestyle, while the winners received awards and accolades for their astonishing swims.
