Zulfadli Zulkiffli continues his winning run at Maldives International Badminton Challenge 2012
Malaysia’s spirited shuttler Zulfadli Zulkiffli continued his winning streak as he secured a quarter-final place after crushing India’s Oscar Bansal in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at the Maldives International Badminton Challenge 2012 on Thursday, May 31, in Maldives.
Zulfadli, who has been positioned at number 3 in Men’s Singles draw in the championship, was in full swing while playing against his lower ranked Indian opponent and easily registered an impressive victory over his rival.
The higher ranked Zulfadli showed his roller-coaster performance in the pre-quarter-final battle and ended it up in just 38 minutes without losing any set.
On the other hand, Bansal tried to show his brilliance in the opening rallies but failed to impress the crowd as his Malaysian rival was too strong in the court.
The lower ranked Indian lost to Zulfadli in straight games without putting up considerable resistance.
Zulfadli, who is ruling World Junior Champion, showed his remarkable craft in the court and faced no problem in taking a tremendous lead at the early stage.
He was quite comfortable in taking the bird early from all areas of the court and made his opponent to work hard for every point. Until the break, it was the in-form Malaysian who took a stunning lead on the board.
After the break, the Malaysian did not drop his speed and also injected more power into his perfectly placed smashes.
Zulfadli remained did now spare any chance for the Indian to take over the control of rallies at any stage. He was in full command of the game and won it with a superb score of 21-10.
In the second game, the Indian played good badminton by accelerating his speed but again failed to take lead as his Malaysian rival became quick in all areas and took a reasonable lead until the break.
After the interval, Zulfadli showed impressive performance by playing attacking badminton and he did not show any mercy to his rival at any stage and grabbed the set with a comfortable 21-14 score on the board.
Zulfadli defeated Bansal easily in this 38-minute straight-set battle with a one-sided margin of 21-10 and 21-14.
