Zulfadli Zulkiffli moves into Men’s Singles main round at French Open Super Series 2012
Malaysia’s in-form player Zulfadli Zulkiffli, who is World Junior Champion, proved his mettle on court and secured his berth in Men’s Singles main round after defeating Matthieu Lo Ying Ping of France in qualifying round at the Yonex French Open Super Series
2012 in Paris, on Tuesday, October 23.
The spirited Zulfadli, who has been struggling hard to establish his position as an elite shuttler at international level, played with tremendous control and precision on court and remained successful in beating his local challenger in a one-sided clash.
Zulfadli was on a different level while playing against Matthieu throughout the contest and he did not encounter any considerable opposition in winding up the match in straight games with a huge margin by taking just 32 minutes on court.
Matthieu, on the other hand, could not respond well to his home fans as he failed to put up strong show against his in-form Malaysian opponent at any stage in the whole match and eventually crashed out without making his presence felt.
From the starting points of opening set, Zulfadli showed a wonderful aggression on court and pushed his rival on back foot by creating a huge pressure on him.
The Malaysian shuttler was quite comfortable in getting the bird very early and he executed powerful shots in the right areas of his rival’s court.
Until the one-minute break, it was Zulfadli who remained in complete command of rallies and established a huge lead on score board.
After the one-minute break, the contest progressed in the same manner as Malaysian shuttler did not lose his grip over the pace of rallies at any stage.
Zulfadli did not let his rival to find a good flow as he kept the pace of rallies high and eventually won the game with a stunning total of 21-11.
In the second set of this interesting clash, Zulfadli did not lose his control and took an early lead without facing any trouble.
Until the one-minute break, Malaysian shuttler remained successful in setting up a remarkable gap on score board.
In the concluding half, Zulfadli stayed positive in the arena and secured the second game with a staggering margin of 21-13.
Zulfadli won this qualifying round clash against his French opponent in straight sets with a one-sided 21-11 and 21-13 score on the board.
