Zulfadli Zulkifli confident to live up to expectations at the Asian Junior Badminton Championships
Talented Malaysian junior player, Zulfadli Zulkifli, is confident to live up to expectations of putting up a good show at the 2011 Asian Junior Badminton Championships, which will take place in India, from July 2-9.
Zulfadli has recently clinched the title in the National Junior Circuit GP Finals. He proved his worth by beating all opponents in straight-games in the event, proving that he has attained immense physical and mental strength.
The 18-year-old is eyeing at the Asian Junior Championships, to stamp his class in the whole continent. The event entertains the team events, along with individual contests and the age restriction for this tournament is 19 years. Zulfadli has only one chance to show better results and enter into the Malaysian men’s elite squad.
Zulfadli said, “This is my last year as a junior and my preparations thus far have been excellent. I will be go all out to win it. Even in the team event, I will give it a 100% if I am picked.”
However, Zulfadli knows that he will face many competent shuttlers from India, Indonesia, China and Taiwan. While speaking about his rivals, he added, “India are the home team and we can expect their players to put up a strong fight in front of their home crowd. Indonesia, Taiwan and China are also strong teams.”
In the opening round of the Asian Junior Championship, Zulfadli is set to meet Aljallad Ahmad of Syria. If he proceeds, his challenger in the Boy’s Singles second round will be Liu Kai of China. No Malaysian shuttler has ever clinched the Boy’s Singles title in the Asian Junior Championships. On several occasions, Malaysians reached in the final but failed to win the title.
However, a spirited Zulfadli is determined to break the deadlock by winning the crown in India. He is training well with the right attitude and is working with full commitment and dedication. It seems that he has set bigger targets for his professional future and is working hard to achieve them.
