Zulqarnain Haider Asks PCB for Clearance of His Dues
Zulqarnain Haider, the former wicketkeeper of Pakistan cricket team has asked the Pakistan cricket board to clear his dues. The young cricketer had decided to quit international cricket after he had reportedly received threats from undisclosed groups.
Haider, who has been waiting to get British nationality and for which had had a hearing on Thursday at the British home department in London, said that before instantly quitting the national cricket team during the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in Dubai, he
had featured in two Twenty20s and four one-days against the team SA in UAE. “Therefore the PCB owes around Rs. 1.5 million to me which I dearly need as I have been finding it difficult to meet my expenses in the UK”, said the former wicketkeeper batsman while
talking to the correspondent of an international news channel.
The PCB had released the outstanding dues of the suspended players Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir, even though they had been under investigation for the alleged spot-fixing case.
During the team’s tour to Dubai to play the T20, ODI and Test series against South Africa, Haider had left the team after playing the fourth one-day match without informing the officials. Later, he landed in UK and applied for asylum amid the threats to
his life back in Pakistan.
Haider, who has played one test match for Pakistan, while talking about his asylum appeal added, “My interview at the home office went very well, they asked about my security concerns and this is all I can share at this moment. I am hoping a verdict in my
favour next week.”
According to the sources, while pleading at the hearing, Zulqarnain had said that when figures like former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and the recently murdered Governor of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 were not safe in Pakistan, who could guarantee his security after having
threats from the bookmakers.
While talking to the reporters, one source disclosed, “Zulqarnain has taken the plea that he does not feel secure enough to go back to Pakistan and that he is under so much stress that he is not even keeping regular contact with his family in Lahore for
fear of exposing them to those making threats to him.”
When asked about when he was going to disclose the names of the corrupt elements in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket, he said that it was not possible for him until he successfully got asylum in UK. He stated that for him, the security of his family was the primary concern
at the moment. Once they would reach UK, he would be free to disclose the names of those involved in corruption.
