Pakistan’s renegade wicketkeeper, Zulqarnain Haider, has accused middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE).
These revelations were made by a PCB insider who on condition of anonymity said, “Although he has not clearly explained the reasons for his leaving the team hotel and flying off to London but he has listed the alleged harassment by Umar Akmal and some other
players as upsetting him a lot."
Revealing further details of the letter by Haider, the source said, “The keeper has said that the treatment he faced at the hands of Umar was basically linked to the fact that he had replaced Umar's elder brother http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 as keeper in the team and for
some other inexplicable reasons."
According to details, in a letter to the PCB, Haider has repeated the same story regarding his desertion. However, this time he has named Umar Akmal as the player responsible for causing him mental harm.
According to the source, Haider has not named anyone linked with match-fixing which has irked the PCB high-ups as they wanted the former wicketkeeper to spell out the names of the individuals guilty of match-fixing.
In November Haider, without informing the team, fled to England as his squad was in between a five-match one-day series in the UAE.
Later in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, he revealed that he was threatened by a bookie who wanted him to lose the last two matches of the series. After refusing to comply he had no other option but to flee the country.
For the last six months, the lanky wicketkeeper had been claiming to know the identities of the people within the PCB linked with match/spot-fixing and the general feeling among the PCB members is that this is the right time for the cricketer to unmask the
culprits. However, the wicketkeeper has failed to disclose anything so far.
It has been learned that the PCB wanted Haider to disclose the identity of the alleged bookie who threatened him, however, no evidence leading to the identification of the infamous bookie has been provided by the runaway wicketkeeper.
In late April, this year, Haider, after six months of self-exile in London, returned back to Pakistan on the assurance of Pakistan’s interior minister Rehman Malik to be provided with full security in the country.
After landing in Islamabad, Haider met Malik and expressed desire to meet the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, however, no such meeting has been scheduled yet. He also took back his decision to retire from international cricket and made himself available to
play for Pakistan once again.
Meanwhile, the PCB has made it clear that until the former cricketer gets cleared by PCB’s integrity committee, he should not think of resuming his career.
On Tuesday, the PCB formed a three member committee to look into the whole debacle of the runaway wicketkeeper.
The members of the Committee include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sultan-Rana-c91768 who is the head of PCB's domestic cricket operations, Colonel retd Waseem Ahmed (security manager) and Khawaja Ovais.
It has been reported that the committee http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 after the conclusion of the series.
