The runaway Pakistani wicket-keeper, Zulqarnain Haider, has apologised to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) during its disciplinary committee hearing on Friday, June 17, 2011, for his sudden disappearance from the team’s hotel last year. He also took back the
corruption allegations against the board members and national cricketers.

PCB, on June 17, held a three-member disciplinary committee hearing, seeking the explanations of Haider’s shocking disappearance from the Pakistan team’s hotel in Dubai, a few hours before the fifth and final One-Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
On reaching London, the player revealed that he received death threats from some bookies, asking him to fix the match.
The former wicket-keeper, who later sought asylum in London, was sent a questionnaire from the board, to find out the details of his case, however, he did not give any response at that time.
After spending almost six months in London, Haider decided to come back Pakistan, after the Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, assured proper security for him and his family.
On reaching Pakistan, Zulqarnain was kept amidst proper security, at an undisclosed location. Later, Zulqarnain unveiled the names of some of the persons, involved in threatening him, revealing that one of the bookies was an Indian.
The former cricketer also expressed his wish to play for Pakistan again, but the PCB informed him that he cannot resume his cricketing career until he provides all the details of last year’s controversy.
The 25-year-old told media that was also fined five lakh rupees (PKR 500,000) for abdicating the team in an important match, without informing any of the concerned bodies, as it breached the code of conduct.
“They will monitor me for one year… I don’t have proof against any one… I withdrew all my allegations and apologised to the committee,” said Zulqarnain.
While talking to media, Haider revealed that his comeback in the national team is in selectors’ hands.
According to Sultan Rana, the head of the disciplinary committee, Haider’s conduct will be under observation for a period of one year.
