Zulqarnain Haider keen to take a new start to his cricket career - Cricket News Update
After getting clearance from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zulqarnain-Haider-c98685, is aiming to breathe a new life into his career, saying that he will be available for selection in both domestic and international cricket.
Haider appeared before a PCB disciplinary committee on Friday, June 17, 2011. After a two-hour long hearing, He was found guilty for violating PCB’s code of conduct and was slapped with a hefty fine of 0.5 million rupees.
The runaway keeper recently returned to Pakistan after staying in England for more than five months. The 25-year-old wicketkeeper fled to England without informing the team management, during Pakistan-South Africa one-day International (ODI) series, last
year in Dubai.
Haider, who was picked up for the national side as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
After leaving the side, the batsman c*m wicket-keeper cited match-fixing and grouping within the team as major reasons for the team’s poor performances over the years. He also accused national selectors of accepting bribery from players, including undeserving
men in the squad.
However, yesterday he pulled out all of his allegations, apologising to PCB after admitting his mistakes.
While the wicket-keeper is now available for selection, the national selectors will have the final say on including him in the side for Pakistan’s upcoming tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, scheduled in September, 2011.
Haider is hopeful that he will be able to earn a place in the side by showing good performance in the first-class competitions.
"I am ready to give my best for Pakistan and hope that the selectors will consider me," said Haider.
“I did what I thought best at that time, but I later realised that was a wrong step. I will not repeat such action in future and I feel sorry for it. Now I only want to concentrate on my cricket,” described the right-handed batsman after attending disciplinary
committee meeting.
Along with a huge first-class experience under his belt, Haider has represented Pakistan in one Test, four ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals.
