Zulqarnain Haider to sue PCB over ‘mental reports’
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s former wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider now plans to sue the Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed, former security manager Khawaja Najam Javed and team coach Intikhab Alam over reports regarding his mental health.
The runaway wicketkeeper posted on his Facebook account that he “is ready now 2 (to) sue PCB about mental illness report...”
The inquiry committee concluded that Haider had some “serious issues regarding his mental well-being” after interviewing him by telephone and talking to teammates, including ex-players and the PCB officials.
“It may be noted that the views of the support staff about Haider were that he is a complex personality,” the contents of the report stated.
It further read that he is a sort of person that gets “easily convinced into believing whatever is said” to him, adding that he had “weak nerves.”
A fact-finding committee set up by the PCB did not find any ‘clear motives’ behind his actions when he decided to flee from Dubai following a hiatus around his act.
The 24-year-old wicketkeeper went missing from his hotel room in Dubai where Pakistan were due to play their fifth One Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 on 8 November, 2010. He left a message on his Facebook account saying he received life-threatening
calls for not fixing a match due to which he left cricket.
He resurfaced the same day at the Heathrow Airport London, amidst confusion and chaos. He persistently asked security for his family in Pakistan and announced his retirement from international cricket. Although he repeatedly denied that he did not come to
England to seek asylum but said he felt secure in the country.
The drama continued with Haider giving conflicting statements and declining to talk about the alleged caller. His family in Pakistan also called upon the media and said that Haider’s two young children and wife were also receiving death threats from Greece.
Haider also declared that he would expose everyone who is involved in corrupting the country’s cricket.
Haider also recently claimed that he is out of money in UK and asked the PCB to pay him his £15,000 that was being withheld by the Board.
The PCB however, said that the asylum-seeking cricketer has not contacted the Board and they will be waiting for action once his asylum application comes through.
