Zulqarnain Haider, the former Pakistani wicket-keeper, on Tuesday, has said that the assets of all the players, whom the bookie http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mir-Mazhar-Mahmood-c76350, should be checked.
Haider’s statement came after two of the Pakistani players – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675 had already confessed
the guilt. The judge of the Southwark Crown Court is expected to declare sentences for the cricketers on Wednesday or Thursday.
"A lot of people made fun of me and called me what not. But today I feel my point is proved that there is corruption in cricket. I am not surprised by the verdict reached by the jury. Because there is definitely involvement of
these players in spot-fixing and all those who try to corrupt the game should be punished," Haider said.
The controversial wicket-keeper fled to London from team’s hotel in Dubai, last November and later revealed that he was given death threats by some unknown bookies who wanted him to fix matches. Haider sought political asylum in
London and then returned Pakistan after almost six months. After returning home, he had to undergo investigation by the Pakistan Cricket Board and was fined for leaving the team’s hotel.
Currently, he is playing for Zarai Traqiati Bank Limited in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tournament.
"I have friends in the national assembly and I will go to them and tell them to pass a bill in the assembly making it mandatory for assets of all players to be checked and anyone found guilty of corruption should be jailed for
seven years," said Haider.
Earlier, Mazhar Majeed had revealed to the News of the World’ undercover reporter that he had been enticing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 players to fix the games for financial gains. He also told that he had been involved in match-fixing for 2-1/2
years and named seven Pakistani players who had been working for him.
The Jury has claimed that Mazhar Majeed has named http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Farhat-c64218 in this regard.
