Zulqarnain Haider’s long awaited hearing will take place on Friday, June 17, 2011

Haider had left the team after the 4th ODI and fled to London, claiming to have received threats from unidentified persons, urging him to take part in match-fixing.
The lanky wicket-keeper said that he was asked to underperform in the 4th ODI and his refusal to do so, resulted in threats.
He claimed to have taken the step in the interest of his team and cricket. Zulqarnain had sought asylum in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, however, he returned to Pakistan in April of 2011, after repeated assurances from the interior ministry regarding his security.
The PCB, which was accused of non-cooperation by Haider’s brother, maintains that Haider violated the terms of his central contract and that disciplinary actions will be taken against him for leaving prematurely and making controversial statements.
Earlier, Haider took retirement from International cricket and had threatened to unveil the names of the players involved in match fixing.
Two Pakistani cricketers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 and Umar Gul, will also be questioned by the PCB during investigations regarding Haider’s case, since the weeket-keeper had alleged the two of mental torment.
According to the wicket-keeper, he repeatedly made efforts to have a sitting with PCB http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, but his requests were either ignored or turned down.
However, later on, when the media intervened, PCB declared to have plans for a meeting with the runaway keeper. This meeting was long awaited but the date was not announced until now.
Recently the PCB announced that the hearing will take place on Friday, June 17, 2011, and that Zulqarnain’s fate would be decided in the meeting.

The PCB has been under fire lately due to several controversies stemming between the board and the players. However, matters have often been settled after intervention from government officials or threats of legal action.
