Pakistan’s Test wicketkeeper batsman Zulqarnain Haider has been the centre of attraction not only in the world of sports but also for others who follow the stories from different perspectives.
The untimely and mysterious departure has once again caused storm in the game of cricket with fingers again been pointed at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board for such a lapse as team management gave the passport away which made his departure to London much easy.
The player is currently seeking political asylum in London but what is more interesting is the fact that he could have easily came back to Pakistan after receiving threats but he opted to for England. Does this mean that the only reason to go to England
is to seek political asylum?
The player told a press conference that he was threatened to be killed on playing a match-winning knock against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the fourth One-day International. He was asked to bat below par and stay till the end to assure that Pakistan do not cross the
line victorious but he did opposite and guided Pakistan to thrilling victory in the match.
Pakistan Cricket Board has already terminated his contract and he will not receive further stipend. But the team management is equally responsible for giving him his passport.
Team Manager Intikhab told media that he was asked by Zulqarnain to give him his passport because the player wanted to buy a mobile sim and he gave it to him as Pakistan team is not a jail and players are free to do whatever they want.
Pakistan cricket is already under ICC’s scanner with the world cricket’s governing body on a mission to end corruption in the game.
They have already given a deadline to PCB for sorting out their internal problems and get their act right if they want to avoid any punishment and sanctions from the game.
In such critical condition the team management was expected to be a little more sensitive but they failed to do so and this case has become yet another national embarrassment after the spot-fixing scandal in England.
