Zulqarnain’s family receive threatening phone calls
Zulqarnain Haider, Pakistan’s wicket keeper, who went missing during the last ODI against the Proteas, has made the news once again and it is learnt that this time it is his family who have reportedly received threatening phone calls from unknown sources.
Zulqarnain came out of the closet to talk the media and stated that he would take all pains to expose those who are involved in corrupt practices from the cricketing fraternity in his home country.
Zulqarnain Haider is still in England and has sought asylum while his family remains in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. According to his brother, "Zulqarnain's wife got three calls today, two from an unknown number and one from a number in Greece, in which the caller, speaking
in Urdu, threatened her of dire consequences if Zulqarnain said anything about anyone.”
According to the wicket keeper's brother, these threats have surfaced in the wake of a message that Zulqarnain had posted on facebook where he categorically mentioned that he would act as a whistle blower for those “who have taken money”. The message left
by him on facebook read, “All these people who are saying negative things about me, they should wait for five more days then I will show them my background and status... after five days I will show them their background and place and also those who don’t take
money and those who have taken money.”
The mysterious circumstances in which Haider disappeared were very peculiar since he did not talk to the team manager or his captain before his sudden departure. This resulted in growing speculation of yet more controversy hitting Pakistan cricket, however,
he later on dispelled notions of himself being threatened or forced by the team management. He also praised the role PCB had played in ascertaining that he was called for the national side, however he said that certain elements working for the betting syndicates
had threatened him to throw away the match.
He was also removed from captaincy while he was playing a domestic match, which sources say was due to the fact that he was against the selection of a certain player that had been included in the squad due to nepotism.
