Zune 30 conflicting memory reports

Question

my zune software says that my music takes up 11.45 GB and my videos take up 5.08 GB, and pictures podcasts taking up a negligible amount of space. however, that adds up to roughly 16.5 GB taken up. my zune software reports that my zune has a total of 23.56 GB used up. is there any way to discover the reason behind the extra 7 GB? or is there any way i can garbage collect/do a disk cleanup on the zune hard drive?

well it might be "reserved" space but idk how to get it off or anything.

Check your reserved space. Open your Zune program and connect your Zune. Click on device>settings>reserved space. It will tell you there how much space you have reserved. If it is more then what you want then change the setting.

If this doesn't solve the problem then make sure that all of the files that are on your Zune are backed up on your computer. Then click on device>settings>sync options>erase all content. Then resync your Zune. That should do it.

As a last resort you can reformat your device. You will need to make sure that all of the files on your Zune are on your computer as this gets rid of everything and puts your Zune back into the condition it was in when you took it out of the box minus the sample files.
