  1. I Strongly suggest getting the I-pod classic. I have had one for about a year now and it's still working great!!! It uses i-tunes, while the zune doesn't \. I know a lot more about the I-pod than the zune, so that's another reason I suggest it. There is more downloadable content for the I-pod classic than the zune because i-tunes is not an old program. I think you should get the extended warranty on the zune and the i-pod, because things can happen pretty quickly. If you drop it badly, it could chip and stop working on the inside. If water gets into them, they could be done for good. I say get the extended warranty to be on the safe side, but it's up to you.

I hope this answer helped and good luck with your new i-pod or zune!!!

  2. Absolutely Zune 2nd generation.  Love it!!  Have owned iPod & Zune both in past year and Zune is much more user friendly.  Easier to download pics, music, etc.  Screen is awesome.  Try Zune;  you won't be disappointed.  iTunes will work on Zune.  I think extended warranties just waste your money.

  3. I've owned an 80gb 2nd gen Zune since it was first released and I absolutely love it! I know tech gadgets, and always have to have the newest and greatest device, so let me tell you why the Zune is far superior. This is why you should go with the Zune as your next multimedia device:

    1) Hardware

Sleek and s**y! I love the device it has a bright big screen and it's awesome watching video on it! Pull up pics of the 80gb Zune and 80gb iPod right now. It's a no-contest...the Zune looks so much better! Ya one might say it's all about personal preference...but come-on, the Zune is sooo much hotter! I love the scroll pad and brushed metal (which doesn't scratch as easily as the iPod). The buttons are perfect, I can't complain at all! You can store all your pictures on the device...I can't tell you how convenient that is! I always have pictures to show people when I'm telling a great story! Everyone loves how nice the screen is, the Zune never fails to get great comments! Oh and the person who said you can't customize backgrounds is dead wrong. If that really were true then tell me...how do I have a picture of myself and my boyfriend on the beach as my background? It's so easy to customize backgrounds you just select the image on your Zune device and select "Set as Background". Also, the transitions between frames and features is smooth and very modern...much better than the iPod in my opinion. The premium headphones are awesome! I've compared the iPod and Zune sound quality side-by-side and honestly I even think the Zune sounds better! The premium headphones cut out the perfect amount of background noise, have fantastic sound (great trebles and bass) and look sweet too! Sweet-action!

    2) Software

I find iTunes to be rather bland and boring...not so for the Zune software! Take a look at screenshots of the two online and you'll see what I mean. I love the graphical interface of the Zune player! Also it's so cool to have a huge faded-out background picture of an artist when you pull up their page. You have the option to view artist bios and related music. Zune software rocks! You can download it and check it out if you want...you don't have to have a Zune device or subscription to try it.

    3) Subscription Service

Are you ever going to pay for enough songs to fill an 80 gig hard drive from iTunes? Do you know how much that would cost? An 80gig device will hold about 20,000+ songs soooo if you say each song costs a buck, that's $20,000 just to fill the ipod. Zune on the other hand gives you a subscription option in which you pay $15 a month, and you can download as many songs as you want. (I don't know about you, but without a subscription I'd probably spend over that much per month anyway.) Just $15 and you can fill your Zune with 20,000 songs on the very first day! Let's say you have the Zune subscription pass for 5years, during that time, you would only pay $900 for unlimited songs!!! Seriously...$900 vs $20,000 hmmmmm? I can't tell you enough how much I love the subscription service!

    4) Wireless Sync/Share with Friends

I love wireless Sync, I don't even have to plug my Zune in to Sync new music/podcasts. I can be sitting downstairs with my Zune and Xbox360 and wirelessly sync new content to my Zune (from my computer upstairs) seamlessly. Can an iPod do that? That's what I thought! PLUS if you know anyone else with a Zune and you want them to hear a new song you found...instead of the exchanging of headphones, you can just send them the song wirelessly...from your Zune to theirs. They can play it up to three times (which is understandable) but if they like it and really want it...the next time they sync their Zune at home, they have the option to download that song. In fact they can automatically set the Zune player to download the song the next time they sync. Easy!

    5) Radio

Please show me an iPod with a radio. Radio isn't dead people...I still use it whenever I feel like something new or want to hear the top40. The Zune's radio works so well and looks cool too!

I could go on with the pros...but I think that's enough to chew on...

    -----

Although there are many things I love about the Zune, there are a few things which I can complain about:

    1) Selection

I'll be the first to admit that Zune does not have as wide a selection as iTunes. However, it is very rare that I'm not able to download a song or find an artist that I want. The only time I ever have problems is with unknown artists or artists from other countries. I usually give it a few weeks/months tho and eventually find that most of them are added to the library. It's always growing, and I run into this problem less often as time goes on. Zune is currently playing catch-up (iTunes had quite the head-start), but they're doing a pretty good job! They added video/TV downloads a few months ago, so that is no longer a con for the Zune.

    2) Battery Life

My Zune will play music for me for a whole day (non-stop) and video for a few hours...You just have to be sure it's charged, you can charge it either through the USB cable when it's connected to the computer, or through a wall unit.

    ---

I don't believe the two are compatible with each other. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?... Even if they are, you are going to run into so many problems trying to mix them...c'mon this is Microsoft vs Apple the two are never compatible. I would strongly recommend against even trying to make them work together.

I watch video podcasts on my Zune everyday on the train ride home, people always ask me what it is because the screen is so vivid and catches everyone's eye. I'm sure many have gone out to buy the device after just seeing mine (and what it can do) for 10mins.

You'll notice most people here are saying that an iPod is better, but I'd venture to say that most of them have probably never really used a Zune. Just because something is more "popular" does not mean it's better! Go to your local electronics store and try them both out. I can't imagine anyone going with the iPod after comparing the two side-by-side. Go with the Zune, you'll love it!

  4. i would rather prefer the iPod[;<3 &; iTunes works for both iPod& Zune.

  5. i pod because a zune has a figi 4x4 sytem whitch means it take up more gig so fore example if you buy a 2 gig ipod and a 2 gig zune and download the same amount of songs then the zune is going to have less then the ipod and the ipod is cheaper so you save money and more songs and ipod has 22x6 sytem more then what youre paying for its a good deal

  6. I would go for the iPod. From what I hear, the Zune's screen breaks very easily. And I personally think they're ugly - the screen is too big, you can't hack them, and they're...just...hideous.

If you get an iPod make sure you get a 5 or 5.5 generation (Video) so you can hack it and put backgrounds on it and stuff. :D

Also, contrary to what idiots say, you can buy an iPod battery from www.ifixit.com and change it yourself (EXTREMELY easy) for 15 bucks rather than sending it to Apple and paying 100 or more.

If you know where and how to look, you can find out anything you want to know regarding what you can do with the iPod. iPod hacking sites are a great place to start. =J
