The former German Football Association president stressed that fans have been taken care of, after rumours surfaced that the tournament will be organised in all parts of the continent
UEFA executive committee member, Theo Zwanziger, is hoping the UEFA European championships in 2020 will be regionally concentrated, ahead of the opening news being leaked about the competition. The 67-year-old insisted that supporters
have not been forgotten about at all in the planning of the championships.
Earlier reports stated that the Euro 2020 will be spread across senselessly large parts of Europe. The loyal followers were all against the idea as it would have been very hard with all the travelling taken into account. Therefore,
the fans protested and showed their concerns over the development of the event.
Theo revealed this information after UEFA decided to host the Euro 2020 in different parts of the continent and not just in a single country. The supporters feared that the cost to watch the tournament will be immense and it will
take a lot of time to cover the massive distances in order to watch every game.
The former German official commented that he thinks the tournament will not be held all over Europe, but will be implemented in a specific region to make it easier for the fans to attend the matches. He thinks European footballing
body will either organise it in north or south of Europe.
"I think there will be a regional focus," the German lawyer was quoted as saying in an interview.
The UEFA member said that this will be done in accordance with the viewers and they will not plan a tournament to discourage the fans. He confirmed that the Euro will not be stretched throughout the continent as first thought,
negating the idea that games could be played in both Lisbon and Moscow.
"That could be northern or southern Europe. One has to think about the fans as well," the former DFB president added.
"We're in the middle of Europe that's an advantage," the sports official finally concluded.
