I rented a rug doctor. I forgot to buy the anti foam. All I have is the cleaner. can I use it without the anit foam, and if so what will happen.

Yes you can use it without anti foam. Its really not needed as long as you use the right amount of detergent. Anti foam is needed if you are using a prespray and detergent at the same time.

The only time you need an anti foam is for older apartments. They use to use rug shampooers on them with a soap solution.

If you're cleaning carpet in your house you will not need the anti foam

If you read the manual, you only need to use the anti-foam when you are using the machine on the upholstery mode cleaning couches.  If you are cleaning your carpets you should never need anti-foam.  This product is only used to combat the upholstery cleaning product, this should go in the recovery tank (the top tank) to cancel out foam that is brought up by the cleaning solution and the upholstery mode.

~~We used it without the anti foam and ours turned out great. It is only a problem if the carpet has been shampooed before. You should have no trouble at all. If there is shampoo residue you'll  know because the tank will have tons of suds in it.~~
