“Early bird” promotion for Malaysian Grand Prix extended
The Malaysian Grand Prix became a part of Formula 1 in 1999 and Eddie Irvine won the first ever Malaysian Grand Prix in the history of the sport.
The race takes place at the Sepang International circuit and this time, the organisers have decided to extend its “Early bird” promotion from 31 December to 31
January for the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix.
According to the chief executive officer of the circuit Datuk Razlan Razali, the Malaysian race has become quite popular and the sponsorship demand for the race has increased vitally since the past couple of years.
“Due to popular demand, we decided to extend the early bird promotion to January 31 so that fans of the Formula One will be able to take advantage of the discount,” said Razali in a statement on Monday.
He believes that Sepang International Circuit has been the main reason why most Malaysians are now interested in motorsports especially Formula 1 and he believes that due to the uniqueness of the circuit, the Malaysian grand prix stands out from the rest
of the races in the sport.
“I believe that 2011 will be more exciting as we may be seeing three Malaysia-related F1 teams in the likes of Mercedes Petronas F1 Team, a potentially rebadged Lotus Racing Team and a possible Lotus Renault F1 Team,” he said.
The promotion will offer motorsports fans a 50% discount on the tickets for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Other than that, they have decided to give their fans special discounts and offer for some upcoming events as well which will definitely increase the ticket
sales for the Malaysian GP in 2011.
It seems that the organisers are doing a fantastic job by making things simpler and easier for the Formula 1 fans in Malaysia and these are the sort of ideas the FIA encourages the most.
It would be interesting to see how the organisers of other venues respond to this. The Indian Grand Prix is expected to debut in 2011 as well and these sorts of ideas enable the fans to turn up in huge numbers at the races.
