My grandson has a 47mm shell cartridge my father gave to me that's marked 37-85 & 116 1.18, along with an Ordnance Department symbol.  He told me he engraved it with a nail while in a French hospital after WWI.  It's engraved "Souvenir of the Verdun Front, November 11, 1918."  He was shot in the leg and his lungs were damaged by mustard gas.  He was a machine gunner in the 133rd Machine Gun Battalion.

You might have guessed that the cartridge is NOT for sale!
