can anyone tell me the powerdown (not shut down, immediate power off) code for .bat files on vista?

  1. Like the answer above but I use the force command just in case a program is being sticky

    shutdown.exe -f -s -t 10 -c "Shut Down Started"

    So that gives you 10 seconds to save all your files and ect.


  2. the command

    shutdown.exe -s -t 01

    will shut down, but I think that's about it, I don't think windows will let you perform a "dirty" power off from the command prompt.  Have a look at

    one of those parameters may help.

    Just a note on the command I listed - I wouldn't actually advise using it as it doesn't seem to save your user profile like a "normal" shutdown does.
