  1. There's not a lot of boarding schools to choose from in Minnesota, there are only three: Cotter School, Saint John's Preparatory School, and Shattuck-St. Mary's School. To find out more about these go here: http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/sear...

Boarding school is expensive in general. But for a good reason. The school is taking on all of the costs of feeding, housing, and educating you for an entire school year. So obviously, this isn't cheap. Cotter School's tuition is $25,000/year, Saint John's $27,000/year, and Shattuck-St. Mary's $35,000/year. This does not include extra expenses such as sports uniforms, school supplies, etc. However, it's important to know that most extra expenses are completely optional, while a few will be mandatory. These three schools are relatively inexpensive compared to most boarding schools throughout the United States, with the national average being $37,275/year. Financial aid is offered at all three boarding schools, so if you can't meet these costs then you will receive financial aid if admitted. Cotter School has 70% of its students on financial aid, and an acceptance rate of 90%. Saint John's has 51% on financial aid, and an acceptance rate of 73%, and Shattuck-St. Mary's has 33% on financial aid, and a 65% acceptance rate. Something to put on your radar though, only 20% of the students at Cotter School are boarding, and only 39% at Saint John's. This means you will be one of the minority that live at the school, while others will go only for classes. This is something that you'll have to consider.

To get more information on each school's financial aid policy go to the school's website and look under the Admissions section, there will be information on the tuition and financial aid offered there. If the school has information you can sign up for and receive (either by email or by mail) then sign up for it right away and learn more about the schools you want to go to. From my own experience I can tell you that most boarding schools are a great environment and something that you will never forget. Best of luck.

  2. Any boarding school is going to cost a lot of money. Your best option is to google search for boarding schools in your area, but you should definitely be aware that it will be a lot of money.
