  1. Non cichlids can go with tetras except discus(non aggressive), or tetras will be feeding fishes to cichlids. Gouramis i don't think they are cichlids.

  2. angel fish, discus, rams, gouramis there are many non aggressive cichlids but those stick out in my mind.

  3. Any of your South American Dwarf Chichlids.  Those would include Rams and any of the Apistogrammas.

  4. You need to say what sized tank you have.  There are a large number of cichlids that can go with community fish.  Most of what you can put is going to be dictated by the size of your tank footprint.  While cichlids, regradless of country of origin are more aggressive then tetra's, it's not true they are all killers, it's just a matter of comparison to other types of fish.

I agree quite a bit, Rams, Apistos, Keyholes, Kribensis, and Shell dwellers all pop right into my head, but we're talking about small types that go in small tanks.  If you have a medium to large sized tank, this opens the door up to more possibilities.

You can very well have Africans in your tank, but I'd avoid Haplochromis types as these will tend to grow rather large, and occupy the same levels Tetra's would, thus creating an issue between them and the Haps, which the Haps would more then likely win.

I'd be happy to give you a list of bigger South Americans or Africans if you mentioned your tank size.

I guess you are too busy just asking questions instead of paying attention to your answers.  Oh well, you decided to move on to Oscars anyways.  What a waste of my time trying to help you.

  5. It depends what tetras you have as most tetras will be eaten or bullied by most cichlids
