(directed at agents) Why do you contact some actors right after seeing their headshot and resume while...?

throwing other actors' headshots and resumes directly into the garbage?

  2. Their are many many reasons for this. The first reason headshots may go in the trash is the agents who are the most respected will have a lot of clients they are managing and they get 100's of submissions a day. Their usually is an intern who is responsible for opening and going through the submissions and if you have the right look and right amount of experience you may go in to the pile to be considered. Other reasons could be your headshot looks unprofessional, your look is the same as the 1000 other people they already have signed, your resume is relatively empty or filled with only school performances, your envelope is poorly written, the agents name is spelled wrong, etc. etc.

    While I have not worked as an agent I have worked as a casting director and have worked directly with a ton of agents. The rules are the same in both kinds of offices. Sometimes their is no real rhyme or reason but more often then not it is the reasons I have listed above.

    **A poorly written envelope means it has messy handwriting, misspelled words, stains of some sort on the envelope. You would be surprised what kind of submissions come in.**
