Serbia over takes Algeria in World Cup match – Volleyball News

Women’s National Volleyball team of Serbia gave out a spectacular performance against Algeria on Friday, November 18. The Serbs stunned the Africans with an overwhelming 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) victory on the final day of the fourth-round action in the
FIVB Women's World Cup. The Tokyo Metropolitan Gym in Japan set up the field of play for this fixture.
Serbia (5-6) finished the 2011 FIVB World Cup with 18 points on account of winning five matches, whereas Algeria (1-10) could only capture one match in the whole campaign and finished off with three points.
The amazing duo of Nadja Ninkovic and Ana Bjelica enabled Serbia to take advantage over Algeria. Both of them remained remarkably consistent and added 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Serbia had a perfect start with powerful serves and on-the-spot spikes in the first set. They built a two-point lead at 8-6 and used convincing attacks by Bjelica to further dominate the opponent. Algeria, on the other hand, proved to be a weak contestant
in the competition and easily gave points to Serbia. Ninkovic of Serbia paced things in the match with wonderful delivery of shots. Algerians played under pressure and made unforced mistake, which paved a way for Serbia to secure first set, 25-13.
Second set was also successful for the Serbs as they followed the same attack and defence strategy against Algeria. The opposite side failed to retaliate and dropped the second set in the same fashion. Serbia extended the lead to 2-0 by posting 25-19.
Algerian girls looked visibly exhausted in third set but continued with their effort. After winning two sets in row, Serbia enjoyed psychological advantage over Algeria and claimed the match by winning third set, 25-18.
Serbian coach, Zoran Terzic, praised the good team-effort of his players. He stated: “After six months we have finished this amazing season. I say congratulations to my players. Today was fairly easy for us. We didn't play our best, but good enough to win.”
The Algerian coach, Ahmed Boukacem, regretted the loss of another match but appreciated the hard work of his team. Moreover, he congratulated the Serbs for winning the match. He acknowledged their better game skills and called them a strong team in the World
Cup. He disclosed his thoughts on the match in following manner: “I believe both teams were exhausted at this point. We gave it our all and I am happy for that. Serbia is a strong team. We played better today that a couple of days ago. I look
forward to our team improving in the coming years so we can catch up to the world level.”
Ana Bjelica of Serbia expressed delight that they managed to end the competition with victory. Algerian Captain said that they learned a lot of new things, which they will surely use for their benefit in the future.
