it could be you are feeding it 3 times a day with large amount of food. make sure they eat and finish it within 5 mins. if they didnt finish it within 5 mins like 6 mins or more, net them out and discard them, they make the water poisoned just like what happened to my flower horn. and clean them monthly if it is in direct sunlight and by that make sure the water is cold. and make sure there are no fighting fish or bettas or arowana even a piranha. they kill every fish while ur out of town make sure someone looks after them and feed them
