(football) How to avoid a cramp during 2-a-days??

Im in the middle of h**l week (2-a-days) for football right now, and i got a bad cramp today on my side when we were doing wind sprints. People say you get cramps from drinking too much water, gatorade, etc, but when coach blows his whistle for us to go to water break, i just have to drink water! it feels like i havent drank anything for days during practice, so of course im gonna drink a lot of water while coach lets us.

So how do i prevent the cramps i get? some people say "eat a banana before practice"...does that really work? or do i just need to face it and drink only a couple sips at water break?

  1. drink more water

u get cramps if u get dehydrated

u throw up if u drink too much water

  2. Yes, cramps can caused by dehydration, like everyone on here is saying. But cramps can also be caused by an imbalance in electrolytes.

Drink plenty of Gatorade (for water and sodium) and eat some bananas (for potassium), or else find a multivitamin for athletes.

  3. Actually you can get cramps from not drinking enough water.  Be sure to stay hydrated.  Don't take too much water of course, but drink enough.  Be sure to eat a decent breakfast, cramps can also come from a lack of nutrients.  Try a multivitamin.

  4. Well eat nutria grain bars to an drink orange juice and make sure you don't eat unhealthy the night before.

  5. 'Nanners contain a lot of potassium which, along with proper hydration, helps to prevent cramps.  Eat a 'nanner at some point during practice (to replace potassium lost during practice) and stay hydrated.   Proper hydration is more than just guzzling water during practice.  You need to consumer a proper amount of water during the day and on weekends.  In a perfect world you would have been loading up on water for a week a two prior to starting practice.

  6. fake asthma attack?

  7. Yeah, 2-a-days are tough, all the water you need is 3 good guzzles and you should be set... You might want to do the "Twist" to help on your hips.
