  1. im american and ive never really understood this i mean football in england u play with feet well that makes sense

football in american u play with ur hands....

so this is what i found

"Football is the name given to a number of different team sports, all of which involve (to varying degrees) kicking a ball with the foot in an attempt to score a goal. The most popular of these sports world-wide is association football, also known as soccer and most commonly just football. The English language word "football" is also applied to gridiron football (which includes American football and Canadian football), Australian rules football, Gaelic football, rugby football (rugby league and rugby union), and related games. Each of these codes (specific sets of rules, or the games defined by them) is referred to as "football"

so in football you do kick a ball even though its not throughout the game it can still be classified as a football sport thing i guess. so soccer and football are just variations of football so i believe in each culture the most common form of football is shortened to football instead of gridiron football or something

  2. Because we already have a game called football. Why do you care?

  3. I think that as the Americans had invented the game of their football that they decided to call origional football soccor. As me living in America I've gotten used to calling it soccor but in England (where I was born) everyone called it footcall. Even in South America the call it that, but Futball.

  4. the name is soccer.

it has football because it has another ball and different things that soccer. It also has different porpuses and objectives than soccer.

  5. because most americans don't want to accept the fact that soccer should be called football,

    i call it football

but we already have a sport called football so...
