?!help with babysitting!?

umm well i'm 11 years old i live in a small town of arkansas and i really love little kids i want to halp some in my neighborhood by babysitting well do you think i should start now or wait a year i will work and am very loving i wouldn't hurt someone if i was forced. oh my cousin already started and i'm supposed to be helping wit a little girl next week!!

by law and i'm not sure if it is in arkansas but you are supposed to 12 before your parents can even leave you home alone. so i would wait and maybe just shadow your cousin for tips. you are only 11 but it is very great that you would like to reach-out to the community.

well, 11 is kind of young. im 13, and when i was 11 i really wanted to babysit, but my mom thought i was a little too young. now that im officially a "teenager" it makes me sound older, and parents are more comfortable with leaving their kids with me rather than leaving their kids with an 11 year old...im sure your very responsible, but if you think about if you were a parent and leaving your 6 year old with an 11 year old. its only a 5 year difference. i know im still pretty young as well, but i suggest you were at least 12 before starting babysitting. good luck though, and its really hard work, so be ready for it!!!

a really wise idea is to take a cpr class and a babysitting class that a local hospital, community center or somewhere else..may provide in your area...

i think it's a great idea that you are wanting to help out you cousin..and having time to help her this summer will be a great learning experience for you

try offering yourself to the mom and let her know you are willing to help and learn how to change diapers...

tidy up the house and whatever she needs...

she will appreciate the help..

If some people think you are too young to babysit, you can still be a mother's helper. The parent would be home but they would get work done while you keep the kids occupied. This will give you experience and references for when you seek other jobs sitting.
