i suck at math and this is a geometry question ok well i need to graph the following

1.4x+3=-12

when its written like this i can do it no problem i got (-3,0) (0,-4) and graphed it

but then there was number 2 =/ d**n

2.2x-y=6 howww do you solve this is it the same?

can i just put a 0 for x? as in EX:2(0)-y=6 sooo

-y=6?

  1. your first points are incorrect.

    1.4x+3=-12 should be changed to y=1.4x + 15

giving you the following points (-10.71429, 0) and (0,15)

for your second problem do the same by changing it to equal y

2.2x-y=6... subtract 6 from both sides and add y to both sides giving you y=2.2x - 6 giving you the points (0, -6) and (2.72, 0)

  2. Put it in slope intercept form, y=mx+b,

First subtract 2.2x from both sides, -y=-2.2x+6.

Then multiply both sides by -1,  y=2.2x-6.

This will give you the slope of the line, 2.2 and the y intercept, -6.

So you get the y intercept at (0,-6) and the x intercept at (2.7, 0)  you can graph it from here.

  3. Actually there is no place for confusion as you have done the first problem correctly..........

Why don't you do the second problem in the same way....why will your method change depending on the co-efficient of x

    so, in (2)....if you put x = 0.....you get y = -6 ...thus you get the point (0,-6)

...if you put y= 0 ........you get x= 3....thus you get the point (3, 0)

Remember....you can put any value in one of the variables unless by putting that value you get a markable value of the other variable....

    Try it..............

  4. Put 1 for X and all variables while working out equations.
