Kenya all set for ICC World Cup 2011
The Kenyan team has landed in the subcontinent to participate in the ICC World Cup 2011. The team had surprised the entire cricketing world when they crushed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 to reach the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup 2003.
They will be eager to repeat their 2003 heroics and reach further in the tournament this year.
The Kenyan team has been participating in cricket World Cups since 1996.
In 2010, Kenya played against the Netherlands, Ireland, Afghanistan, Canada and Scotland, all ICC associated teams. They lost 2-1 to the Netherlands, 1-0 to Ireland, 2-0 to Canada, 1-0 to Scotland, but squared 2-2 with Afghanistan.
Kenya played against the Netherlands for a three-match ODI series that was jointly hosted by the two countries in February 2010. The first match was played at Gymkhana Club Ground, Nairobi, on 16th February. The Netherlands scored 219 runs for nine wickets
in 50 overs. Kenya won the match easily in 34.5 overs. They scored 221 runs for the loss of four wickets.
The second match was played at the same venue on 18th February, 2010. The Netherlands were all out on 200 runs in 48.4 overs. However, Kenya failed to deliver this time and were bowled out at a mere total of 120 runs.
For the third match, the two teams travelled to Sportpark Westvliet in Voorburg, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753, where the match was held on 3rd July, 2010.  The Netherlands were 229 all out in 49.2 overs. But Kenya failed to capitalise once again and were bundled out for
112 and lost the match by 117 runs.
Kenya and Ireland played just one match on 1st July, 2010 at Hazelaarweg, Rotterdam.  Kenya were bowled out for 163 in 45.3 overs while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 surpassed the score 39.5 overs with three wickets to spare.
Kenya played against Afghanistan in three ODI matches in 2010. The first match was played in the Netherlands at the VRA Ground in Amstelveen on 5th July. Kenya scored 233 for seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Afghanistan won the match on the last ball
by one wicket.
The second, third and fourth matches were played at Gymkhana Club Ground, Nairobi. The second match was played on 7th October, 2010.  http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752 scored 180 all out in 46.2 overs. However, this time Afghanistan had no answer to the Kenyan bowling attack and were
quickly undone for just 88 runs in 27.5 overs.
In the third match played on 9th October, 2010, Kenya scored 139 runs before being bowled out in 41 overs. Afghanistan overtook the score, knocking 143 runs in just 27 overs with four wickets to spare.
In the fourth match, played on 11th October, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 were bowled out for just 188 runs in 42.6 overs. Kenya chased down the target in 41.3 overs with two wickets remaining.
Kenya faced Canada for two matches in 2010.
The first match was hosted by the Netherlands at Sportpark Thurlede in Schiedam on 9th July, 2010. Kenya were all out after scoring 153 runs in 45.2 overs. Canada overtook the target with four wickets in 35.5 overs.
The second match was also played at the same venue. Kenya scored 190 runs in 50 overs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748 scored 194 for seven wickets in 49.2 overs.
Kenya played http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 just once on 7th July in Hazelaarweg, Rotterdam. Scotland scored 172 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs. Kenya were all out on 166 in 48.4 overs.
As far as the Kenyan team’s performance in 2010 is concerned, they don’t look very strong, having lost eight of the 11 ODIs they played. They will have to work very hard to make their presence felt in the ICC World Cup 2011 if they are continue the record
of their performance in the World Cup 2003.
