Alright, so I'm going to Cedar Point with my dad and I don't want to dissapoint him... He wants to ride one coaster with me and that's maverick.... we're going to do it FIRST thing as soon as the park opens we're heading straight there so we don't have to wait. Here are my hates and fears about coasters.

Hights

the feeling in my stomach when going up

the feeling of my stomach going into my chest on the drop

inversions make me dizzy

I am nervous those things are gonna come off the tracks

I will have dramamine and advil handy trust me for the headache after and dramamine for motion sickness how long before I go on it should I take the dramamine and while being launched up the lift hill what should I do?

How do I conquor my fears of this? I CANNOT dissapoint him I refused to ride coasters with him before but now now not again! And that coaster is only like 100 ft tall so it isn't THAT bad....... Help me please I am so scared I'm 17

  1. First off - Dramamine is taken half an hour before the ride check the directions on the package just to make sure but, the last time I took it I believe it said 30 min before the activity that might make you sick.

Keep in mind that Rollercoasters have to be safe otherwise they would be outlawed.

Nothing is going to help how you are feeling with your stomach...you will just have those sensations.

If you can get on the coaster, and if you can't...well, lots of people have phobias of rollercoasters and it is no skin off your nose if you can't, your Dad should be sensitive to that. But, if you can get on the coaster I would suggest you keep your eyes closed unless that adds to your anexiety.

While going up the lift hill, I would practice measured breathing...so breath in while counting to 7 and breath out while counting to 7...in other words...meditate.

Good luck and try to enjoy yourself.

  2. The good thing about Maverick is you don't have a slow clickety clack lift hill. You just go up it quickly and then you start the ride and you will be having to much fun to be scared.

  3. ok, just because it's "only" 100 ft doesnt mean it's "not that bad"......there is a launch hill before the drop......the launch is fast and it gains more speed as it goes down the hill. it is a very low possiblility that the coaster train would fall off of the tracks, and the ride wouldnt be open if it did that. you will not feel the inversions as much because of g-forces. it will feel more like going up a hill then down or you being pushed into your seat. keep riding roller coasters and you will LOVE the stomach feeling when you get used to it. you WILL see an inversion as you go....close your eyes before you go through the inversion......if you are too scared (cause the maverick goes through inversions after inversion),, ride a different roller coaster before riding that.....ride top thrill dragster as it will conquer all of your above listings.....there is a drop, stomach feeling, heights, and no inversions....after that you would wanna ride everything

  4. Well if you have those fears this coaster may not be for you. The lift to this coaster is actually considered a launch. It's not fast by any means but it takes you no time to reach the top. Once you crest the lift you have a 95 degree drop which will feel like your stomach is in your chest. It is a fast paced roller coaster with drops and sudden turns with inversions. You have a 2nd launch that is pretty quick. The hills have plenty of air time which you do come out of your seat a little. I'm not trying to worry you or tell you not to ride it, just want you to be aware. It's really a very fun coaster and I highly recommend it.
