I took B.C for 1 yr. and 8 mos. I stopped in July of 2007 and didn't get a period I gave it a few months to see if it was just because I stopped taking it, at the end of Nov. I figured sum was wrong so I called my OB GYN he was booked until Feb. when my appt. rolled around I went in he said the reason he figured I wasn't getting a period was because my body wasn't producing Progestrogen which you need that and Estrogen to get a period, so he put me on Provera every other month for 12 days I only get my period at the end of those 12 days, anyway my husband and I have been trying to have a baby now since the middle of November of 2007 when I went to the dr. he gave me until this Dec. to get pregnant on my own if we didn't get pregnant then he said he would do some tests and put me on fertility meds. We both would really like to have a baby but I kinda am scared to take fertility meds I might end up Like Jon and Kate plus 8 lol, I'm getting really frustrated, but also everyone says that you should wait to be off of B.C. for a year which I'm about a month and a half over a year of stopping it.

My friend went to a diff. doctor and said her b/f and her have been trying to have a baby for 6 months (which was stretching it) she had her do a ovulation chart for 2 months and said that she was giving them until 8 mos. and she would put them on fertility meds. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of concieving, or what is everyones perspective of fertility meds???

Thanks

  1. there is a new thing on the market that i beileve you will find in the preggy section and its suppose to tell you when your ovulation dates are try that and see if its for you!!

  2. Pills and lots of Vitamin C

  3. Chart your temps, it will tell you if and when you are ovulating.

    www.tcoyf.com

  4. Wait until you ovulate.Never use fetility drugs because unwanted results could occur.

  5. Ya know, at this point it would seem like a good idea to have your husband's sperm count checked, just in case.

I was researching an answer to another question earlier today and I found something that just floored me.

"Men are just as likely to be the problem as their female partners when trying to conceive." (source: www.fertile.com)

According to that website, men's sperm is the problem 40% of the time, and the other 40% of the time it's the woman's reproductive system. The other 20% is either unknown or a combination of the two.

This surprised me because I always think of a woman's reproductive system as being more susceptable to a breakdown because it has more moving parts, so to speak, but apparently that simply isn't true.

I would suggest getting your husband's sperm checked out. If it turns out ok, then taking the next step should be considered carefully...

That next step should be choosing a doctor who is an expert in the field. An OB/GYN is not a fertility specialist. He might know about fertility, but that's not his field of expertise. It's a bit like going to an Optometrist to get LASIK. You have to go to an ophthalmologist.

If you want professional, knowledgeable fertility care, you want what's called a "Reproductive Endocrinologist." You can go to www.asrm.org to find one in your area.

    Good luck!

  6. My answer is going to sound very strange but my husband and I were trying for two years with no luck, my doctor suggested to do the following and within a few months I conceived. During s*x lay on you back with a pillow under your bottom to raise the pelvis, also after s*x do not get out of bed and lay on your back with your legs over your head, these methods force the sperm to stay up there were it should be. Good luck, like I said it worked for us.

  7. have lots and lots and lots of xex

  8. hormone pills

  9. being positibe, i think also is compability thing...

  10. umm its called fertility treatment.....duhh (chill for a bit though)

  11. Not everyone ends up with 6 kids at once. There's a reason that show exists, because it's fairly rare. My wife and I had to go to fertility for our child and we only ended up with one. We had to wait a year before they'd do the fertility thing as well.

If I remember correctly, being on the fertility treatment we were on, twins was something like 25%, triplets was like 8%, and Quadruplets or more was less than 1%.
