If I put a <meta> tag with description and keywords and upload it to a website, will it show in search engines such as Google and Yahoo? Or do I have to pay someone for my descriptions to show up on Google and Yahoo? Could someone maybe give me a link that explains all of this. Thanks.

  1. Yes, your meta tags will automatically show up on both the search engines. You would not need to pay anyone for this job, It just takes a little time, till they crawl on your site. I put up a meta tag on my site in January 2007. This was reflected in the search engine results as a snippet on the 7th day on Yahoo, 20th day on Google and after around 2 months on MSN. Although not necessary, you could try submitting your site on the site submit feature on Yahoo &amp; Google.

    Yahoo  : http://submit.search.yahoo.com

    Google : http://google.com/addurl?continue=/addur...

  2. Google and Yahoo will show what ever has the search query the person is searching for. That is actually better for you, they may take an excerpt from your web page. Yahoo will also show the DMOZ description if you have a listing in DMOZ.

  3. Search Engines like Google and Yahoo will definitely take your content for search if you have used relevant keywords
