....marriage at 58....?

Question

I have been in a de facto relationship for 25-26 years. We have had our fair share of good and bad times and now after all these years my partner wants to marry. I am of two minds....excited and have a feeling of ..this is crazy!!!!.

I would appreciate your views and with that suggestions of what I should wear. My partner wants the full 'monty' so to speak with all the trimmings. Do you believe or think this is appropriate inspite of our age....

We have no children, only those from our previous marriages.

actually, i'm wondering why you think it's crazy! just because you're 58 doesn't mean you need to stop having fun and curl up and whither!

i'm 54 and hope to marry someday. i'm not kidding. i married the wrong man and stayed in it for 25 years. got a life at 45, dated. but would still like to find someone to spend the rest of my life with.

if you have love to give and someone who loves you, why not celebrate that?

We re-married at 65 & 69,& this is the best relationship I could have imagined.After all these years together,you both know whether you want to be officialy bonded,I imagine.If it feels right,go for it.If it doesn't,then check out your reasons for feeling negative.Maybe the word marriage conjures up some old fears that may have to be dealt with openly.We went to Lake Tahoe,& were mkarried at Harvey's Chapel,with 25 close relatives & a few friends,then to dinner & we wore nice clothes that were attractive but not over the top.If your partner wants all the trimmings,maybe you can compromise & go with some if the trimmings,& you'll both be happy.That's what a marriage is all about,isn't it? Good communication & compomise ! BOL to you both.

Let it roll!!! You only live once so make it the time of your life. It sounds like you two will be together forever so why not? Make it extraordinary.

I would do it. Cause if you have been together that long, why not make it right in gods eyes. If she is the one that you love and want to be with for the rest of your days then you should. You should be excited and this will be a adventure for you and make you feel young again. Just think HONEYMOON romance ECT!!!

Many legal protections offered by marriage make this a no brainer. Make it a party and wear a dress that makes you feel as lovely as your obviously are.
