.mkv videos with subtitles to .vob dvd. Do the subtitles stay?

I was wondering I have a few .mkv video files with subtitles. I was wondering if I where to use a program like Windows DVD Maker or DVDFlick to write them to a DVD disc do the subtitles stay and will they be usable on a DVD-Player?
