Can someone tell me the exact address for the new Hershey Factory that is being renovated? It used to be a bread making facility in Monterrey.

  1. According to the following article, you can contact Citius Captial, to find out:

    Blvd. Diaz Ordaz #3057 Europlaza 22 Col. Santa Maria Monterrey, N.L. Mexico. phone + 52 (81) 8115.32.75

Realignment plan calls for plant in Monterrey

The Hershey Co. has purchased a nearly 200,000-square-foot building in Monterrey, Mexico, where it expects to begin making candy later this year, according to reports in Mexico.

Plans call for as many as 500 employees to work at the plant initially, according to a source with Citius Capital.

Information on Hershey's purchase of the industrial building in Monterrey is listed among items in a newsletter on the Web site of Citius Capital, an industrial real estate company that serves national and international companies. Citius Capital said the building was formerly a bread-making factory owned by a Mexican company.

Hershey spokesman Kirk Saville would not discuss details yesterday. "I don't have any information to share on that," he said.

The nation's largest chocolate company announced on Feb. 15 that it will shift some production to a plant in Monterrey. At the time, Hershey said it would "construct a flexible, cost-effective" facility in Monterrey that should begin production later this year.

The Monterrey plant is part of Hershey's realignment of manufacturing operations. The realignment calls for the elimination of more than a third of its existing production lines and the net reduction of 1,500 employees by 2010.

With an unspecified number of workers to be added in Monterrey by 2010, Hershey would have to eliminate more than 1,500 jobs in the U.S. and Canada. Factory workers at the main Hershey plant in Derry Twp. said they have been told the number of job cuts could reach 3,000.

Hershey has 20 plants, three of them in Derry Twp. So far, a plant in Smiths Falls, Ontario, that employs 500 people is the only one targeted for closing.

The candymaker is phasing in the realignment over three years. By 2010, it expects the Monterrey facility to handle 10 percent of its production, with 20 percent of its total production outside the U.S. and Canada. About 6 percent of Hershey's production is handled outside the U.S. and Canada now.

The realignment is expected to yield savings of $170 million to $190 million a year by 2010, Hershey said.
