What does this mean? I heard a speaker talking about something and she made reference to when she was a Christian but not spirit filled. How can you truly be a Christian and NOT be spirit filled?

  1. many people define christian by random/arbitrary notions

many believers don't feel the spirit

  2. I am confused as I do not understand either.

  3. You're on the wagon?

I'm an atheist, and yet occasionally spirit filled, especially after a hard day...

  4. When you believe in Christ for salvation the Holy Spirit comes to indwell.

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" I Cor 3:16

There is only one filling of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit cannot come and go. He is with us for eternity. Some though do contend that there is a separate blessing given of God, one in which the Holy Spirit can fill you in some other way. This teaching has not been well received in Christendom as it seems to be reading something into the Bible that really is not there.

  5. You can't be a true believer and not 'spirit-filled'.  Pentecostal christians believe you need a special 'spirit-filled' anointing after conversion and that is what makes them so special.  Don't believe it.  Jesus said that the coming and going of the spirit is like the wind and that you don't know where it came from or where it is going, but only that it is there.(John chapter 3)  The Pentecostals try to break down conversion and extra blessing to a point of a fault.  They cite scriptures of the disciples being anointed post salvation, but you must remember that the Holy Spirit would not come fully until Jesus left the earth.

  6. "False Christian" I guess.
