Question:

" Kissing Bug " in Costa Rica ?

I'm traveling there in June and I am concerned about this bug. I will be staying in hotels but one of the hotels is in the rain forest, should I be worried ?

No,although it is a truly nasty insect you shouldn't be worried or afraid,but you should be concerned and vigilant.  Just because you are staying in hotels does not necessarily mean you wont encounter them.They can exist almost anywhere.The Kissing Bug adapts easily to substitute accommodations, finding suitable hiding places in the cracks and crevices of typical peasant dwellings around the rain forests. This nocturnal nemesis is an innocuous-looking insect that sucks blood, much like a mosquito does. Its habit of defecating and urinating immediately after eating, provides the Chagas parasite, which lives in the bug's f***s, ready access to the prospective host's blood stream...Use a good insect repellent


  2. I used to live in Costa Rica and never had any problems...I wouldn't worry about it!

  3. I have been in the Costa Rican rainforest before with no problem, just use some bug spray as you will do when you visit any wildlife enviroment.
