I figured no better place to post this question the the UK yahoo answers post..

Does anyone know just exactly what the gallagher brothers had in mind when they used the word "wonderwall".. Of course many people have their own opinions.. but that's not what im here for.. I frankly don't care what you think it means.. but rather what they mean.. is there a definition out there somewhere??

Please help! :)

  1. I don't know myself, but for some reason, my thoughts went right to George Harrison's 1968 solo album of the same name. I always wondered if that was Oasis' inspiration since everyone knows they're big Beatles fans.

  2. I'm with Fonzie T on this one.

  3. The song takes its name from the 1968 album Wonderwall Music by George Harrison. The original title of the track was "Wishing Stone".

It's often claimed that it was written for noel gallagher's then-girlfriend, Meg Mathews. but noel later claimed that the song was not about her at all, but he felt he had to go along with the rumour, as he couldnt tell his girlfriend that the song wasn't about her after her reading in the newspapers that it was. he now claims that the song is really about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself.

  4. it means if you like cheese you'll win.

  5. Apparently it was what Noel used to call his bedroom wall with all his posters of his idols, which in itself is kinda poetic, its also the name of a film of which George Harrison wrote the soundtrack for, being a massive Beatles fan this is most likely where he first heard the term.

  6. Song was about their mum!

  7. i think it is that when noel was with a certain person his mind is full of wonder but it always stops coz there is a wall blockign the way

    so its his wonderwall

i think it is a kinda love song
