".....and by the way.....your roots are showing.."?

I have heard this phrase on the TV and films. a female is insulting another female by saying that her darker roots are showing....implying that she dyed her hair blonde. If this was said to me...I would take it as a compliment. darker roots on blonde hair can look nice. Do you agree?

depends how darker.  If it's dark brown or black, it usually just looks trashy.

Even natural blondes have darker roots but sometimes it does look like the person just hasn't updated their dye job.

If the person throwing the line is a natural blonde there are plenty of choice responses....

In your case, the insult would fall on deaf ears.

Others, not so psychologically robust, may personally take the intended insult to heart. It is more a matter of self esteem than the colour of your roots.
