"A Gift", A poem for comments, please?

Our universal gift,

Fields of land

sand and dust,

below the sea,

asleep beneath rocks,

Flowing

oil, oil everywhere

none to spare.

Power, greed, dysfuntion

stakes claim

to our universal dispair.

Alas, too bad, too bad,

The wildcats of yester year

have disappeared.

  1. To paraphrase "The Ancient Mariner," -- Oil, oil, everywhere/Nor any drop to spare.  Fortunately, unlike water, we can live on solar, wind and geothermal energy. But we must get moving--NOW!!

  2. Alas, indeed.

  3. my heart... you have touched my heart!..

I know I am close to despair  over our home, this ravaged earth... anger for me  has almost dissipated. I am afraid I will die without  hope in my heart!

  4. Very Nice!

  5. I think this poet is talking about the past since she or he said "The Wildcats of the yester year" I think this is a great poem!

  6. I like. A break between oil, oil everywhere and the next line would to me help transition from plenty to despair of today. It is a gift that definitely has strings as we have become addicted!
