  1. I believe this is an opinion based question. For example, we could ask "What other ways can we solve future conflicts?"

    They're basically asking you questions about the World War.


  2. There are few themes emphasized.

    1. In a war the soldier is not the only one who suffers. Also the family. For example analyze Paul Baumer's family. When Paul is on furlough his mother, though ill makes him some food to take with him.I cried when I read that part. It was so sad, even though I am a guy.

    2. All soldiers are the same. This is true especially when Paul is in a hole with a dying French soldier. This soldier also has a life and family, just like him. They're both fighting for similar reasons, both are doing it for the glory of their own countries.

    3. Society is hypocritical. The old wants to send the young to fight, while they collect their own resources.
