I went to an all you can eat buffet - believeing I could have all I coud eat.....

The lunch time was 12-4:30 however after about 50 minutes and two plates they brought the bill and we got a feeling of being made to leave so we tried staying for a while but still got the feeling so after 20 minutes (total 1hr 10 mins) we paid and left....

...I feel cheated with this 'all you can eat buffet' and would like to know are there 'hour rules' or number of plate rules ? - or what ?

(i know I should have asked at the time but was just too unconfortable)

Any input ? advice ?

thanks !

  1. peh that is not all you can eat, you were cheated my friend go back and when they bring you the bill just say oh can you bring it a little later we are not done yet.

The all you can eat places here you eat all you can then go to the bar and pay the tab :)

There is not set amount of time so long as you are done before they start to clear up eat all you can! lol.

  2. You must have been in a grade one dump. All the buffet restaurants that I have visited have been excellent !

  3. I would write a letter and tell them exactly how you felt. It seems to me like they were trying to push you out the door! I hate when restaurants do that. Don't call because anyone could answer and relay the message to the manager and s***w it up. You never know, you could get another free meal at least! Best of luck.

  4. you honestly should have protested at the time. if you feel too uncomfortable to complain because of such obviously wrong behavior and awful food on their part, then this will happen time and time again.

    take charge.

  5. It's the same with places that say unlimited refills on drinks...try taking your cup back 2 weeks later..they won't serve you...scandalous

  6. My boyfriend went in to an all you can eat chinese food buffet with a couple friends. After they were on there second big plate they brought them the bill. When they went to go back for more, they wouldnt let them and told them to leave as as they walked out the door the owner screamed "next time you bring uhaul. you bring uhaul next time" as he shakes his fist. All you can eat my a**. I thought it was funny!

Having said that, it might not a been the case in your situation. I think it all depends on the place and generally the smaller more privately owned all you can eat restaurants are pushy to get you outta there.

  7. They do that because they know that most of their lunchtime patrons have to get back to work. They know that people don't want to be looking for their server for their bill when they have to leave. That's why they bring it early. I can't believe they waited 50 minutes to bring the bill, I would have had it on your table in about 30 minutes. Too many complaints about not having the bill in a timely manner. I'm sure no one asked you to leave or even hinted at it. You feeling uncomfortable is your problem, not theirs. They did nothing wrong what so ever.

  8. Buffets usually bring me the bill when they start seeing dessert on my plate. If they only bring up bills when customers ask then some customers are going to complain that the service is bad. Just keep eating. If they force you out then sue them. If they really didn't want your business then I don't think writing a letter helps.

  9. i was goint to ask if it was chineese  ! ! !  i am telling yoiu- they think thier food is that good, whatever. it is always cold where ever you go! thats is so true. when i go out to these places they watch you as you eat and then they give you the bill as soon as you get your second plate. i feel like a hog. i just don't like getting all the food on one plate. i go up for new plates. no, there is no unspoke rule- they are just rude b******s. try not going there- you will though. chinese people make really good cold *** food right !

  10. no rules that i know of...... was it an Asian buffet ?

  11. Sue them. You could be in line for millions.

  12. You should have ignored the first bill if it wasn't asked for. It would be a difficult thing to prove once you'd left the restaurant, though. And in future, ignore 'feelings' like that. That's how they want you to feel in such a place to save money.

  13. THEN don't go back there

  14. Obviously depends on the place, but at my local you have a 2 hour limit and 10% charge for wastage!!

  15. what did ya leave for????? i would have eat the place bare

  16. It should be called eat and leave!

Slogans like all you can eat is not true because most of the time you do have to pay they don't want to lose money is the reason they want you to come and eat so you can pay ;)
