  1. a BSB number is essential in Australia as it is the number of the bank the funds are being deposited in.  However, international transfers are different entirely.  You need to confirm all the details with the bank in phillipines, then tell your bank in Australia.  If you have the correct details for the bank in Phillipines there should be no problems.  Just make sure you specify you want an international transfer/draft.

  2. BSB = e.g. 086217

    Bank :       08 = NAB

    State:          6 = WA

    Branch : 217 = Fremantle

All countries have a similar system. UK sort Code 001144 = HSBC in Bracknell, Berkshire

There is now an IBAN number for international transfers, but it is all essentially the same; a numerical system of identification.

  3. a bsb is the "unique code" or "unique key" that identifies each bank in australia from each other, so asking them to get rid of it is like asking them all to go away and for only one bank to exist in the entire country.  it's akin to saying you no longer have a name/life and that one person is living their life for every person on earth.  well, ok, not quite, but i hope it helps prove my point!

i'm wondering why a philipino is asking an australian bank to transfer money to them in the philippines?!  ask whoever is sending the money to you to do an international transfer...
