  1. well my son was born at normal weight 7lbs9oz but gained weight really fast. he was about 23lbs at his 1st birthday. he is 13 1/2 months now and weighs 25lbs. he just started walking a few days ago.  It takes them a bit longer to walk when they are chunky for obvious reasons, they have more weight to balance on those lil feet.  Don't worry about it, he will walk when he is ready.  For my son it was practically overnight that he started walking.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your son...It's very exciting.

  2. lol my daughter was 9 pounds when i had her and she was about 24 pounds her first birthday. its funny cause she started crawling like 1 week after her birthday, and then she started walking like another week after that. i like to joke around and say "she sat on her lazy butt a whole year before she even moved!" lol. only cause she didnt crawl until after her birthday. its nice though, i like that she just waited till she wanted too : )

  3. I was born at 10 lbs 12 ounces (I was a natural birth, and my mom decided she didn't need an epidural. OW!) and I was tottering at about 10 months and walking with no help by 14 months.

  4. My daughter was 9lbs6oz and about 23 lbs at her 1st birthday.  She started walking at 10 months.

I know babies who walked at 8 months and another that walked at 18 months.

  5. My first child was 8lbs 8oz when born and she was walking at the age of 7 months, she was like a mini adult and did everything early. Potty trained herself at 18 months. Talking at a year. Knew her colors and abc's and what colors matched at age 12 months.. was feeding herself at 9 months.... wicked smart girl..  My youngest was 9lb 5oz and she did everything late...  didnt walk until 3 days before she turned 1, didnt potty train till she was 3 1/2, didnt talk so anyone other than me could understand her till she was 4, didnt start feeding herself till she was 2... the only thing they reversed on was sleeping through the night.. oldest didnt sleep through the night till she was almost 4, youngest started sleeping through the night at the age of 2 weeks... lol.. Each child is DIFFERENT... DONT PUSH for potty training,, just intoduce it every so often and if they dont pick it up and go with it, give it a rest and try again later in a week or two.. kids will show you and tell you and let you know when they are ready for the next step... your baby will walk when hes good and ready.. or when there is something across the room that walking will get much faster than crawling... in my oldest.. it was the folded laundry while I ran to the bathroom, gone only 60 seconds....lol... there was no more folded laundry when I came out and my daughter was across the room having the time of her life...

enjoy him while hes young.. they grow so fast...

  6. The size of a baby at birth has nothing to do with when they will walk. My nephew started walking at 11 months and was 7lb7oz. My friend's children were 5lb4oz and 8lb11oz and neither walk at one year old. Like you said, the baby will walk when he is ready. You can always help him get started by walking him around the house holding his hands, but it will be when he is comfortable and stable enough to let go on his own. Good luck and enjoy him now while you can because he'll be running away from you in no time!

  7. My daughter is 9.5 months 18 lbs, she doesn't walk yet but she can pull her self up to standing position. I walked when I was 10 months old but that is pretty early I think. Sometimes when babies are a bit bigger they take a bit longer to do more activities and from what I hear boys tend to start things a little later then girls do.

  8. My daughter is 25 lbs and has been since about 8 months old.  She began walking at 11 months.  She was no doublt wobbly at first and stomped around like a giant, but now (her birthday is today, happy birthday to your guy tomorrow!) She's got it pretty much under control and isnt having any trouble.  Good luck!
